Another privacy scandal hits Facebook after 14 million private posts were made public from May 18, 2018 to May 27, 2018. The software bug is said to have automatically converted the restricted post i.e. friends only post to public. Users had failed to notice the issue despite their posts were made available to the broad range of audiences.

Facebook after identifying the issue has started to notify the users to review the posts. While Facebook Chief Privacy Officer Erin Egan stated that bug did not affect the past posts. Company stopped the big issue on May 22, 2018 though it failed to change the original privacy perimeters. The error took place after it tried to develop a new feature for people to share their featured items on their Facebook profile. The posts or picture shared in Feature items gets automatically public.

Lately, Facebook was involved in Cambridge Analytical Scandal where Trump affiliated data mining firm got data access of nearly 87 million Facebook users.
