Commencing from today, Facebook Group admins can charge membership fees to its group members on monthly basis for an amount of $4.99 to $29.99. The Subscription Groups will only be available for a small number of people on a trial basis.

This new feature is added allowing Group Admins to earn money to support their community and strengthen their engagement. Subscription Groups allow this admin to directly collect payments from Facebook itself. However, the final decision will be made only if it proves to be successful.

Facebook spokesperson Alex Deve further said, “We hear from Group admins that they’re looking for ways to help them earn money to deepen engagement with their members and continue to support their communities. Many admins do this today by creating an additional subscribers-only group that sits alongside their existing group, and rely on additional tools to track and collect payments.”

Facebook during its trial period will not be charging any of its Group Admin. The group can be managed directly through Facebook Apps in Android phones and iOS.
